Last weekend I picked up some film that I had dropped off for developing last MARCH. Phew, I'm glad they didn't throw it out.

Portland

We had a great time last weekend in Portland.  Mom and I went for the Flugtag and ended up mostly strolling, shopping and enjoying the friendly, open vibe of the people we met.

Our favorite day started with a pilgrimage to Ink and Peat, followed by a surprise stop-in at Lille boutique.  The website doesn't convey the feel of the shop. The decor is modern victorian boudoir.  Each dressing room has vintage furniture and forgiving lighting. The stock right now is small boob heaven a la flapper style. I wanted everything but finally came away with two pairs of vintage raw silk lace stocking made in Paris. Sarah Wizemann, the owner, hand dyes them herself. I bought one raw and one teal.

After Lille we went around the corner to Thirty-One. I came away with 3 works by Lynn Yarne.  After previewing the art you get in line to be let into a sweaty frenzied dash for your favorite pieces. For newbies we faired pretty well.

On a recommendation from Portland Monthly magazine we ended the day at Screen Door. We sat outside at one of the six picnic tables.  I had a huge plate of cornmeal crusted catfish on a bed of summer succotash and a zingy drink called Texas Black Gold -  blackberries, tequila, lemonade, ice - wow it was good!
